Dozens of people have submitted complaints and reports online to the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Sector 1 Court in the last 24 hours, after prosecutors urged the students from SNSPA who were victims of Professor Alfred Bulai to contact the investigators.
According to officials from the Prosecutor’s Office, the number of reports has increased in the last 24 hours, after receiving 10 emails on Wednesday.
Currently, prosecutors do not know if they are students from SNSPA or witnesses who have information about the abuses committed by Alfred Bulai.
The Prosecutor's Office attached to the Sector 1 Court urged the students from SNSPA who may have been victims of Professor Alfred Bulai to contact the prosecutors on Tuesday, with the investigators stating that they will ensure their protection and safeguard their identity.
"Given the information that has appeared in the public space regarding the circumstance that sociologist Alfred Bulai, a professor and political analyst, allegedly demanded sexual favors from some students at SNSPA - the National School of Political and Administrative Studies -, the Public Ministry encourages anyone who has relevant information to contact the judicial authorities at the email address pj_sector_1@mpublic.ro," announced the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Sector 1 Court in a press release.
The Prosecutor's Office states that it will ensure the protection of the students and safeguard their identity and privacy.
Thus, in the case of presumed vulnerable individuals, specific measures can be taken throughout the judicial procedures to protect their identity data.
Moreover, throughout the judicial procedures, individuals may be heard through audio-video means with distorted voice and image, and in the case of protective measures, the evidence administered in criminal proceedings will not include the real address or identity data, which will be kept confidential.
The Capital Police have opened a criminal case regarding the alleged use of the position for sexual purposes by Professor Alfred Bulai.
Sociologist Alfred Bulai, a 61-year-old professor and well-known political analyst on TV, asks students to undress in front of him in practice, in the room where he is staying and where he calls them for academic feedback, wrote the investigative website snoop.ro on Monday, after discussing with 18 victims and witnesses from the period 1995-2024 about the professor's behavior throughout his nearly three-decade career, more than 20 years of which were spent at SNSPA.
On Tuesday, Alfred Bulai was suspended from all teaching activities and all positions held at SNSPA. Additionally, the institution announced that it has taken note of his retirement request, starting from October 1, but the Ethics Committee's investigation will continue, "with or without" the participation of the professor.
