Crimea could soon become effectively isolated from Russia, as Ukrainian drone attacks continue to target Russian logistical networks, said Ukrainian Defense Minister, Mihailo Fedorov.
„Crimea is isolated by drones. In the near future, it seems that the Crimean peninsula will turn into an island,” Fedorov said in an interview with the YouTube channel PRESSING.
He stated that Ukraine's increasing use of medium-range attack drones is increasingly disrupting Russian supply routes related to the occupied Crimea.
"And this could lead to very unexpected consequences for the Russians. I can't say more," the minister added.
According to him, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has contracted 300% more medium-range attack drones in the first four months of this year than throughout the entire year of 2025.
The drones have also been regularly used to attack targets in the occupied areas of southern Ukraine and on the logistical routes supporting Russian forces.
Fedorov added that Ukraine has launched a "logistics blockade" program, providing additional funding directly to military units capable of quickly acquiring and deploying medium-range attack drones.
"For the Russians, hell begins - one that is very hard to manage. Logistics are disrupted. Crimea is isolated," Fedorov said.
According to the Ukrainian minister, there is also a direct link between successful attacks on Russian logistics and a reduction in enemy assault operations along the front line.
Kiev has increasingly targeted transport links connecting Crimea to other occupied areas in southern Ukraine, as part of a broader effort to complicate Russian supply routes to frontline troops.
On Tuesday night, Ukrainian forces attacked a road bridge crossing the North Crimean Canal near the village of Stavkî, and another bridge near Voinka, in the occupied part of the Kherson region, the General Staff in Kiev announced.
Last week, the Ukrainians damaged four important bridges that ensure the connection to key supply routes of the Crimean peninsula, and the rationed fuel distribution was suspended in Sevastopol.
