Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu maintains that he will never be the most beloved among earthlings and added that no one will be, explaining that Romanians have the gift of demystifying any politician, and „we are experts when it comes to presidents. If we don’t shoot the presidents, then we make fun of them.”
Marcel Ciolacu was asked on Tuesday what is the first thing he will solve if he becomes the President of Romania.
"The approach needs to be changed. The President somehow rose up high, created a glass bubble around himself, and the function of the president should be untouchable. From my point of view, it was a mistake in approach.
I will never be the most beloved among earthlings. No one will be, especially since we have this gift of demystifying any politician, especially when it comes to presidents. If we don't shoot them, we still make fun of them," stated Marcel Ciolacu.
He specified that the President of Romania should stand by the Government.
"He should somehow stand by the Government, especially in this period. It's not an easy period. And it won't be an easy period. We have postponed dozens of reforms for 30 years. We fooled each other and played a game both in Parliament and in the Government based on interests, more to seek votes than to see predictability," explained the PSD President.
Ciolacu also says that the next five years will be crucial for Romania.
"I would intervene and stand by the Government and not just take the good parts. There is also this temptation, especially in the first term, usually, if you do wrong, it's the Government's fault. I am the president, I told them. I don't think we have any more time to waste. The next five years will be crucial for Romania," Marcel Ciolacu added.
