Simona Halep’s lawyer, Howard Jacobs, reacted to the latest accusations made in the British press against our athlete.
The Times newspaper, under the signature of David Walsh, wrote that the verdict in Simona’s case raises serious questions.
The British publication also noted that a quantity of roxadustat was found in Simona's body, which could only have been accidentally ingested if she had consumed 5,000 supplements per day.
Nevertheless, Simona's lawyer reacted strongly and stated that this information has nothing to do with the truth.
"When David Walsh and The Times make such claims without even reading the CAS decision, they conveniently overlook the fact that the CAS tribunal was at the highest level and chaired by a former judge with a PhD in cell biology. The ITIA's arguments in the case were unanimously rejected, and the reasons are to be communicated by CAS. Criticizing a decision you haven't read is a meaningless exercise," Howard Jacobs wrote on X.
We remind that Simona Halep was cleared by CAS after it was proven that she had unknowingly consumed a contaminated supplement. Simona was only punished for negligence, not for doping.
