Simona Halep made painful revelations about the state she was in.
Our athlete recalled the lost final at Roland Garros 2017 against Jelena Ostapenko.
The Romanian lost a match she had in her hands and confessed that she was in total depression for three months.
"I think this helped me to keep in mind that I always need to progress. And, after losing big finals, Grand Slam finals, I focused on myself. I wasn't interested that I didn't succeed and someone else did. Darren Cahill congratulated me after I lost the final in 2017 to Ostapenko at Roland Garros.
I was in total depression for three months. It was a total drama in my head and soul. I got up and went to practice. Not many athletes, after such a big failure, manage to come back so well. It was a failure, but it was the biggest lesson. It helped me in life too. I learned that anything is possible if you mind your own business. You must not give up. In any field, that's important: to give yourself another chance that no one else gives you," stated Simona Halep in the podcast with Horia Tecău, provided by Mind Architect.
Later, Simona won her first Grand Slam of her career in 2018, also at Roland Garros, after a final against Sloane Stephens.
