Mircea Lucescu has reached an agreement with a new team and will return to the field starting this summer.
The Romanian coach has a verbal agreement with the Turkish team Beşiktaş Istanbul, according to information provided by Horia Ivanovici on the Fanatik Superliga show.
Lucescu is set to take over Beşiktaş in the summer, after refusing to sign with the Turkish club in the winter because he did not conduct the preparation and team building himself.
Recently, Mircea Lucescu confirmed that he wishes to return to the coaching bench in the summer.
“I hope to return to the bench. After 50 years, I had my first period of rest. Unfortunately, after everything that happened in Ukraine, I decided to put an end to it and wait until June. That's why I turned down Beșiktaș this season, which wanted me to take over the team on the go.
I am waiting for a team where I can build my own squad. At the age of 78, I do not lack enthusiasm and passion. I always go to matches to stay informed and be prepared when the right call comes,” Lucescu said, according to tuttosport.com.
The Romanian coach has managed in his career Dynamo Kyiv, the Turkish national team, Zenit Saint Petersburg, Shakhtar Donetsk, Beşiktaş, Galatasaray, Rapid, Inter, Reggiana, Brescia, AC Pisa, Dinamo, the Romanian national team, and Corvinul Hunedoara.
