Romanian coach, 44-year-old Cristian Chivu, has taken Inter to the top of Serie A, with a huge lead over its main pursuer, AC Milan, the fierce rival at the same time, by 13 points.
After Saturday night’s victory, a 2-0 score against Genoa, Chivu launched a fierce attack against those who criticized Inter, especially after this week’s elimination from the Champions League against the Norwegians from Bodo/Glimt.
"Are Inter's efforts never enough? It's a narrative that has no connection to reality. The team is never given credit for the work done in recent years. The players are always under scrutiny and nothing seems to go well for some.
We move forward, trying to do things right until the end. Why does this happen? You have to ask those who have something against what the team has done in recent years...," Chivu pointed out at the post-match press conference.
Inter is coming off a fabulous run in Italy, with 14 consecutive victories and a draw, the last defeat being recorded on November 23, 2025, with that 0-1 against Milan: "Believing, working hard, aware that in football you win and lose, but you have to work hard to be competitive. We were eliminated from the Champions League with two defeats, at home and away. We worked hard, physically and mentally, to overcome this shock and recharge our batteries."
Next up for Inter is the Italian Cup semifinal against Como on Tuesday, and next Sunday they have the derby against Milan, which could be a decisive match for the championship, considering the distance between the two teams.
