A former prosecutor with a pension of 8,500 euros is suing the state because he wants more. And he's not alone

Former anticorruption prosecutor Gheorghe Șuhan, along with other retired prosecutors, have sued the Iași County Pensions House, dissatisfied with the increases received upon recalculation.

Șuhan receives a pension of 42,700 lei (over 8,500 euros) per month, but requests a recalculation and a reduction of the tax, as reported by the local press in Iași.

Alongside Șuhan are other Romanian prosecutors, including the former chief of the Court of Appeal in Iași, Iulian Ispir, as well as his wife Daniela Ispir, and the former chief of DNA Iași, Sorin Călin. Another dissatisfied individual is Mircea Borș (former chief of the Iași Penitentiary), along with prosecutors Daniela Moraru, Eugenia Vîrvescu. All of them already have pensions exceeding 20,000 lei (4,000 euros) per month.

The prosecutors request "the restitution of the illegally withheld tax differences, updated according to the inflation index and with the application of legal punitive interest, starting from the first deduction from each claimant's pension until the full execution of the main obligation."

The court has not yet made a decision on their request. The case is being transferred from one section to another of the Iași Tribunal due to competence reasons (see here).
