June started with unstable weather and abundant rainfall in almost all regions of the country, but the end of the month could bring the first episodes of more pronounced summer heat.
According to estimates published on Tuesday by the National Meteorology Administration (ANM), temperatures will generally remain around normal values for this period, while precipitation amounts will exceed climatological averages in most parts of the country.
Early summer with frequent rains
During the period 1-8 June, temperatures will be close to normal in most regions, with values possibly slightly lower in the eastern part of the country.
On the other hand, rainfall will be above the usual average nationwide, with the most significant amounts of water expected in mountainous areas. Essentially, the beginning of the calendar summer will continue the pattern of unstable weather from the past few weeks.
Southern and eastern parts of the country remain cooler
The second week of the month does not bring a major change. Between 8 and 15 June, temperatures will be slightly below normal in the south, east, and southeast of Romania, while in the rest of the regions, they will be around the multi-year averages.
Rains will continue to be more numerous than usual in most of the country, except for the western and northwestern regions, where meteorologists estimate a precipitation deficit.
Mid-month brings a gradual stabilization
During the period 15-22 June, the weather will start to stabilize. Temperatures will remain close to normal for the period, but in the western and northwestern parts of the country, thermal values could slightly exceed climatological averages.
Precipitations will be above normal, especially in the southeast, while reduced rainfall amounts are expected in the intracarpathian regions.
End of June warmer than usual
The last week for which ANM has issued estimates, 22-29 June, indicates a clear warming trend.
In the southeast, temperatures will remain close to normal values for the period, but in the rest of the country, they will be slightly above the climatological average, with the largest deviations expected in the west.
Rains will not completely disappear. Meteorologists continue to estimate slightly above-normal precipitation in the extracarpathian regions, while in other areas, water quantities will be close to the usual values for the end of June.
