The Spanish authorities have completed the process of identifying the victims of the Valencia fire and have confirmed the deaths of two Romanian women who had initially been declared missing.
„Further to the information on the situation of Romanian citizens affected by the fire that occurred on 22 February 2024 at a residential building in Valencia, Kingdom of Spain, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) states that the Spanish authorities have notified the representatives of the Romanian Consulate in Castellon de la Plana that they have completed the process of identifying the victims and have confirmed the death of two Romanian citizens who had initially been declared missing. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveys its condolences to the bereaved family”, the MFA said at the request of News.ro.
The families of the two Romanians have been notified by the Spanish authorities, according to procedures.
At the same time, MAE mentions that the representatives of the Romanian Consulate in Castellon de la Plana are still in contact with the Spanish authorities and with the Romanian citizens affected by the fire who have requested consular assistance and are following the evolution of the situation, in order to provide consular assistance/protection, according to their competences and in compliance with Spanish law.
Two Romanian women who lived in the apartment block in Valencia where a major fire broke out on Thursday evening were unaccounted for, according to the building manager. They are a teenage girl and her mother.
