Simona Halep (33 years old) makes a statement full of sincerity towards the Russian player Mirra Andreeva.
The final at Indian Wells, won by Mirra Andreeva at only 17 years old, convinced Simona Halep about the Russian player.
Simona watched her play in the final at Indian Wells, where she won against the world number one Aryna Sabalenka, and said she liked the Russian player's game and that Andreeva "will be very, very good."
"I watched a bit of the final at Indian Wells and I really liked how Mirra Andreeva plays. I think she will be very, very good," stated Simona Halep, quoted by gsp.ro.
At 17 years old, Mirra Andreeva is ranked 6th in the WTA rankings, with titles already won in Dubai and Indian Wells, as well as a silver Olympic medal in Paris 2024 and a semifinal at Roland Garros 2024.
Simona Halep retired from tennis in February 2025, after being cleared of a doping suspension, but she couldn't return to a competitive physical level.
