A Rangers legend calls for urgent action in the "Ianis Hagi case"

Ianis Hagi is on the verge of concluding his adventure at Glasgow Rangers, considering that his contract with the Scottish club expires this summer.

The 26-year-old Romanian midfielder has decided not to extend his agreement with Rangers. He has spent five years under contract with the major blue and white club in Glasgow. The Romanian can sign with any team interested in him starting from winter.

A Rangers legend had a strong reaction regarding the possible departure of Ianis, the son of the legendary Gică Hagi, from the club. Barry Ferguson, the former great striker of Scotland and Rangers, sounded the alarm and called for urgent measures to keep Hagi in the squad even beyond this summer.

"One thing that took me by surprise was that Ianis Hagi will be out of contract this summer. I was surprised, to be honest. I thought he still had another 18 months on his contract. This is something that the club bosses need to resolve very quickly," said Barry Ferguson, according to ibroxnews.com.

Ferguson played in nearly 300 matches for the Ibrox team. Rangers paid 3.5 million euros in 2020 to transfer Ianis Hagi from Genk. This season, the 26-year-old midfielder has scored 2 goals and provided four assists in the 16 matches played under the guidance of Belgian coach Philippe Clement.
