Romanian students have won four gold medals at the International Olympiad in Informatics, held in Bolivia.
„Historic result for Romania at the International Olympiad in Informatics: four gold medals! (…) This is the best result achieved by Romania at this competition, in its 37th edition. IOI took place in Sucre, Bolivia, with the participation of over 90 countries,” announced the Ministry of Education on Facebook on Saturday.
The medals were won by:
- Rareș-Andrei Neculau, 11th grade, 'Vasile Alecsandri' National College, Galați;
- Rareș-Felix Tudose, 12th grade, International Computer Science High School, Bucharest;
- Mihai-Valeriu Voicu, 11th grade, International Computer Science High School, Bucharest;
- Mircea Maxim Rebengiuc, 11th grade, 'Tudor Vianu' National College of Informatics, Bucharest.
The scientific coordination of our country's team was ensured by representatives of the Society for Excellence and Performance in Computer Science (SEPI), who selected and trained the representative teams: Marius Nicoli, 'Frații Buzești' National College, Craiova, and Bogdan Ioan Popa, University of Bucharest, with organizational support from representatives of the Ministry of Education and Research.
"Congratulations to the students and all those who contributed to this achievement," said the Ministry of Education representatives.
