American President Donald Trump issued a new stern warning to Iran on Sunday, stating that „there will be nothing left” of the country if Tehran does not accept an agreement with the United States.
The statements come as negotiations between the two countries remain deadlocked, and the prospects for de-escalation of the conflict seem increasingly distant, reports AFP.
"For Iran, time is running out, and it would be wise to act quickly, otherwise there will be nothing left of them," Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform.
Negotiations are deadlocked after more than a month of ceasefire
Although there has been a ceasefire in the region for over a month, the prospects for a diplomatic solution remain slim. The conflict began on February 28 after American-Israeli attacks on Iranian targets.
According to Iranian media, Washington has not made "any concrete concessions" in its response to Tehran, especially regarding the Iranian nuclear program, the main point of contention between the two countries.
Fars Agency reported that the U.S. presented a list of five conditions, including limiting the Iranian nuclear program to a single facility and transferring all enriched uranium stockpiles to the United States.
Iran demands the lifting of sanctions and the unblocking of assets
According to the same source, Washington also rejected Iran's request to unfreeze a portion of assets held abroad, as well as to pay compensation for damages caused during the war.
Mehr agency claimed that the U.S. did not offer "any tangible concessions" and criticized the "excessive conditions" imposed by Washington.
"Washington also demanded very severe and long-lasting restrictions on the Iranian nuclear sector and conditioned the cessation of hostilities on all fronts on the opening of negotiations," Mehr reported.
Iranian diplomacy stated on Monday that Tehran's proposals include an immediate cessation of hostilities in the region, especially in Lebanon, as well as the lifting of the blockade imposed on Iranian ports by the U.S. Navy.
Iran also demands the unblocking of its assets abroad, which have been affected by American sanctions imposed in recent years.
