Seriously injured earlier this year, in January (during the Tottenham – Elfsborg match, with a score of 3-0, in the Europa League), the young Romanian central defender Radu Drăgușin has been absent for over half a year — he not only missed the end of the last season but also the beginning of the current one, including the UEFA Super Cup and national team matches.
Thomas Frank, Tottenham’s coach, provides a new milestone in the recovery process: Drăgușin should return to training in a maximum of 10 days, with the prospect of returning to the field during the next international break in October, following the severe injury to his cruciate ligaments.
Frank emphasized that, although the player is "on the road to recovery" and continues his running sessions, a full return requires patience — more than a usual six-week preparation. However, Drăgușin feels "confident that he can return sooner."
"Drăgușin is on the road to recovery and has been running for some time. I think he should rejoin the team in a week, ten days. But, of course, it's a ligament tear. It always takes a little longer, not worried, just aware that it takes time.
It's not enough to have a six-week training period with us. You need a little more time, but he is confident he can return sooner. We will see where we stand during the October international break," said Frank, as quoted by the English press.
Furthermore, for the Champions League, Tottenham has submitted a squad to UEFA without Drăgușin — the list of 22 players does not include him, just like other injured players such as Mathys Tel, James Maddison, or Dejan Kulusevski. In defense, the coach relies on Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Kevin Danso.
