Sorana Cîrstea lost once again very clearly against Igăi Swiatek in the 3rd round of the WTA Madrid Masters 1000 tournament.
The score was 6-1, 6-1, exactly the same as two months ago, when the WTA world leader crushed Sorana in Doha, Qatar.
After this match, Cîrstea, ranked 30th in the WTA, granted an interview to Fanatik newspaper, announcing that she will not return to the Billie Jean King Cup team, formerly FedCup, even though our national team qualified for the final tournament at the end of November, after a dramatic playoff with Ukraine, ending 3-2.
At the same time, Sorana mentioned Simona Halep, presenting her as a possible solution for Romania's team during that period: "I was very happy for the girls and I was very proud of them. It was extraordinary how they managed to win against Ukraine. I am very happy that we are in the World Group and I wish them great success."
