Simona Halep (32 years old) admitted that she made a wrong decision when she received the news that she could return to the tennis court.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) reduced her doping suspension and allowed her to return to the court, and Simona Halep rushed to accept a wildcard for the Miami Open, where she was defeated by Paula Badosa in the first round, in her first official match after a year and a half break.
Simona Halep admits she made a big mistake: "It wasn't great"
Halep admitted that it was a mistake to play in Miami, considering that she was not physically prepared for a high-level match after months of break.
"Honestly, it was a mistake, for my body, to play in Miami. Because in February, when I had the hearings, I didn't train. I was exhausted, always under tension. I said I would try to calm down and recover, I didn't even move for an hour in February.
Then, to go straight to play, was not great from a physical point of view," Simona Halep declared, as quoted by the website tennisuptodate.com.
Recently, Simona stated that her medical issues are more serious than initially thought and her comeback is postponed.
Simona also mentioned that she does not know when she will be able to play tennis again, but she hopes to return.
Simona played her first match after her return in March, at Miami, where she was eliminated in the first round by Paula Badosa.
She then had to withdraw in the first round of the Trophee Clarins due to medical issues.
