Romania was defeated by Colombia on Tuesday, with a score of 2-3 in a friendly match played in Madrid, Spain.
The Romanian national team started off slow and hesitant against Colombia, and the South Americans took advantage and quickly opened the scoring through Cordoba in the 6th minute with a header. After a significant missed opportunity by Denis Alibec, the Colombians made it 2-0 through Arias in the 36th minute with a shot from the box, and they had more chances to increase their lead.
They went into halftime trailing by two goals at „Citivas Metropolitano” in Madrid.
The second half followed the same trend, with missed opportunities by the Colombians to extend their lead. It happened in the 80th minute when Asprilla also scored. Ianis Hagi reduced the gap in the 84th minute after recovering the ball from a Colombian opponent’s foot.
Florin Tănase also scored in injury time, in the 90+3rd minute, with a shot near the penalty spot after a good pass from Dennis Man. The match ended 2-3 in favor of the Colombians in Madrid.
Romania was coming off a draw in their first preparation match before EURO 2024, a 1-1 result against Northern Ireland at the National Arena.
