Glasgow Rangers lost in the final penalty shootout of the Scottish League Cup, whose defending champion they were, against their great rival Celtic, after a crazy display of strength.
With Ianis Hagi on the field for 120 minutes, Rangers lost the Scottish League Cup final on penalties, with a score of 4-5, after a 3-3 draw in regular time.
During regular time, the score was tied at 3-3 after a crazy match, with chances at both ends, spectacular goals, and big misses. Taylor '56, Maeda '60, and Kuhn '87 scored for Celtic, while Rangers found the net through Bajrami '41, Diomande '75, and Danilo '88.
Celtic quickly turned around the advantage of the Blues, obtained through Bajrami's goal towards the end of the first half, Kuhn made it 3-2 in the 87th minute, seemingly sealing the final, but Danilo sent the match into extra time.
It was a discreet performance from Ianis Hagi in the first part of the match. The Romanian was involved in some attacking plays, took a few corners, but didn't shine. He had an interesting chance towards the end of the game, when he was denied by a great save from Danish goalkeeper Schmeichel.
There was only one miss in the penalty shootout, by Ridvan Yilmaz, which cost Rangers the trophy. Hagi executed his penalty impeccably, the second one chronologically, to the left of Schmeichel.
Hagi had been a starter in Rangers' last 3 league matches. He played against St. Johnstone (1-0), Kilmarnock (6-0), and Ross County (3-0).
