Starting in October, patients will be able to schedule appointments with a doctor through a national online platform, which will be mandatory for all providers of medical services in the public healthcare system.
The new platform will operate within the „My e-Health” portal, where insured individuals will be able to access their medical history, electronic documents and prescriptions, as well as information about the treatments they have undergone.
The measure is provided for in a law promulgated by the president and is part of the project to modernize the Information System of Health Insurance (PIAS), funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), as reported by Profit.ro.
Online appointments become mandatory from Q4
The law stipulates that, starting in Q4 of 2026, an electronic patient scheduling system will operate within the "My e-Health" portal, administered by the National Health Insurance House (CNAS).
All providers of medical services in the public system will be required to use this platform for appointments, and before the official launch, a pilot project will be carried out to test the system.
The legislative initiative was submitted by the interim Minister of Health, Cseke Attila, in his capacity as a senator, and the project was adopted by Parliament at the end of last month.
What will patients find in the "My e-Health" portal
The new platform will provide secure access to personal medical information generated in the social health insurance system.
Patients will be able to consult:
- the history of medical services they have received;
- medical documents issued in the system;
- electronic prescriptions;
- information about medications and medical devices used in treatments.
The portal will also include electronic services to facilitate interaction between patients and providers of medical services, aiming to increase transparency and simplify access to their own medical data.
The platform is part of the modernization of the CNAS informatics system
The "My e-Health" portal will be developed and managed by CNAS as a functionality of the Information System of Health Insurance (PIAS), within the project "Resizing, standardizing, and optimizing PIAS," funded through PNRR.
According to the initiators, the new system aims to facilitate patients' access to medical information and digital services in the public healthcare system, in line with their right to be informed about available medical services and how they can use them.
