Acting Romanian President Ilie Bolojan announces that he had a phone conversation with Maia Sandu on Wednesday.
The President of Moldova congratulated Bolojan on assuming the role.
Additionally, later that evening, Bolojan signed his first decree appointing his first advisor - Luminița Odobescu, who is actually a former advisor to President Klaus Iohannis.
"Today, I had a phone conversation with Maia Sandu, the President of the Republic of Moldova, who congratulated me on assuming the interim presidency of Romania. I thanked her for the kind thoughts and for the sincere friendship between our countries.
Romania and the Republic of Moldova are connected by a special relationship, based on a common history, European values, and development projects. We will continue to collaborate closely for the well-being of the citizens on both sides of the Prut River.
Moldova is not alone. We are together, in the same fight for a better future!" wrote Ilie Bolojan on Facebook, alongside the photo below:

According to a press release from the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu conveyed her best wishes for success to Ilie Bolojan and thanked Romania for the full and unconditional support provided to the Republic of Moldova.
"I reiterated the gratitude of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova and emphasized that Romania remains our soul partner," stated Maia Sandu.
The New Old Advisor
Subsequently, the acting president signed the decree appointing Luminița Odobescu as a presidential advisor, starting from February 13.
Luminița Odobescu previously served as a presidential advisor during the previous mandate from November 2021 to June 2023, focusing on European affairs before joining the Ciolacu Government as Foreign Minister.
After no longer being a minister in January 2025, she was appointed as a state advisor within the Prime Minister's Chancellery.
Ilie Bolojan assumed the interim presidency of Romania on Wednesday.
Klaus Iohannis concluded his ten years as the head of state, following a resignation that represents an unprecedented decision in Romanian politics for a head of state.
