Romanians are almost evenly divided on the motion of no confidence that led to the fall of the Bolojan Government: almost half believe it was an unnecessary political act that will worsen the country’s situation, while an almost equal proportion consider it necessary and that it will improve things in Romania.
The Informat.ro Barometer – INSCOP Research conducted during May 11-14 shows a very high level of public anxiety: almost three-quarters of respondents say they are worried about the current political situation.
Three-quarters of Romanians are worried about the political situation
According to the survey, 74.5% of Romanians declare themselves "very worried" or "quite worried" about the current political situation.
Of these, 43.7% say they are very worried, and 30.8% quite worried. Only 24% state that they are slightly or not worried at all.

The highest levels of concern are recorded among USR voters, women, individuals over 60, and private sector employees, the research shows. Conversely, voters of PNL, individuals under 30, and public sector employees are less concerned about the political situation.

The no-confidence motion divides the country into two camps
The survey also reveals a deep polarization in society following the fall of the Bolojan Government.
48.6% of respondents believe that the motion submitted by PSD and AUR was "a useless political act" that will worsen things in Romania, while 44% say it was "a necessary political act" that will improve the country's situation. 7.4% did not respond or did not know how to respond.

The differences between the parties' electorates are huge. PSD and AUR voters, individuals with primary education, and rural residents tend to see the motion as a necessary political gesture.
On the other hand, PNL and USR voters, young people, individuals with higher education, and residents of Bucharest and major cities believe to a greater extent that the motion will worsen the political and economic situation.

INSCOP: "The gap between the electorates of the main parties is total"
INSCOP Research Director, Remus Ștefureac, says the data indicates an extreme polarization of society.
"The pronounced polarization caused by the no-confidence motion is confirmed by the data showing that approximately half of Romanians (48.6%) believe that the no-confidence motion was a useless political act that will worsen things in Romania, while the other half (44%) believe that the no-confidence motion was a necessary political act that will improve things in Romania," Ștefureac stated.
He argues that the gap is almost total between the electorates of the main parties.
"88% of PNL voters and 92% of USR voters believe that the motion will worsen things in the country; in contrast, 69% of PSD voters and 74% of AUR voters believe that the motion will improve the country's situation," explained the INSCOP director.
Why Romanians believe the Bolojan Government fell
Asked about the main reason for the removal of the Bolojan Government, most respondents - 57.8% - say the government fell due to tax increases and poor economic management.
Only 33.6% believe that the government was removed because it tried to reduce privileges, corruption, and unnecessary expenses in the public sector.

Perceptions differ radically here as well, depending on political preferences. PNL and USR voters overwhelmingly believe that the government was sanctioned for attempting to reduce privileges and corruption, while PSD and AUR voters say the government was removed because of higher taxes and poor economic management.
