Official announcement - when Trump will go on an official visit to China and what he will discuss with Xi Jinping

China has confirmed on Monday that American President Donald Trump will undertake a state visit to Beijing, starting from Wednesday until Friday.

The American President is expected to meet with his counterpart Xi Jinping and discuss Iran and trade disputes, as reported by AFP.

Trump will arrive in Beijing on Wednesday evening, stated Anna Kelly, the deputy spokesperson of the American executive.

A welcome ceremony and a bilateral meeting with Xi Jinping will take place on Thursday morning, followed by a visit to the Temple of Heaven on Thursday afternoon and a state banquet in the evening, she detailed.

The two presidents will have tea together, followed by a working lunch on Friday, before Donald Trump’s departure to Washington.

China will seek to instill „more stability” in international relations on the occasion of the Xi Jinping-Donald Trump summit, a Beijing diplomacy spokesperson cited by AFP stated on Monday.

„China understands to work with the United States on an equal footing, in a spirit of respect and concern for mutual interest, to develop cooperation, manage differences, and bring more stability and certainty in an unstable and interdependent world,” spokesperson Guo Jiakun declared.

„Diplomacy at the highest level plays an incomparable strategic role in China-US relations,” he added.

Representatives from China and the United States are set to meet in South Korea for a round of negotiations to resolve their trade dispute before Trump’s visit to Beijing, as announced by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce on Monday, dpa reports.

The Ministry stated that Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, along with a delegation, will be in Seoul on Tuesday and Wednesday, with discussions focusing on economic and trade issues of mutual interest.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed the meeting on the X social platform. Bessent stated that he will depart on Monday „for a quick series of meetings in both Japan and South Korea.”

He mentioned that he will meet with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi in Tokyo on Tuesday to discuss bilateral economic relations. On Wednesday, he will make a stop in Seoul for the meeting with He Lifeng and then travel to join Trump for the meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Bessent wrote.

Bessent and He have represented their countries in previous rounds of negotiations. The trade dispute last year between the world’s two largest economies led to reciprocal imposition of tariffs. China responded with controls on the export of critical raw materials, negatively impacting industries worldwide.
