An incredible incident occurred on Monday at a European airport. Dozens of passengers were left on a staircase as the plane departed without them.
The incident took place on Monday at Manchester Airport, United Kingdom, according to Express. Dozens of tourists waiting to fly to Alicante, Spain, found out that the Jet2 plane had left without them.
Even though they had passed through the airport gates, including passport control and ticket scanning, they were directed to a staircase where they waited for about 40 minutes, thinking they were waiting for the doors to the runway to open so they could board a bus.
As a result, 35 people were left behind. They were informed that their plane had taken off.
It appears there was a communication error between the airport representatives and the airline company. Witnesses claim that people followed each other until they got stuck on the staircase. They were spotted by an airport employee who started asking questions.
Jet2 apologized to the customers and stated that they are treating the incident as an "emergency issue." Each tourist received a £10 voucher from Jet2 and a promise to be accommodated on the next flight.
