The Chief of European Union’s foreign policy, Kaja Kallas, condemned on Sunday the entry of Russian drones into Romania’s airspace during an attack on Ukraine, expressing EU solidarity with Romania.
The EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, criticized the entry of Russian drones into Romanian airspace during an attack on neighboring Ukraine the day before, calling it „unacceptable,” according to Le Monde.
"The violation of Romanian airspace by Russian drones is another unacceptable breach of the sovereignty of an EU member state," she wrote on the X social network.
"This reckless escalation threatens regional security. We express our solidarity with Romania," she added.
A Russian drone entered Romania's airspace on Saturday evening and flew over the territory for 50 minutes before leaving the country near the village of Padina.
Romanian F-16 pilots were authorized to shoot down a Russian drone that entered Romania's airspace on Saturday, but they decided not to open fire, the Ministry of National Defense stated.
