Ukrainian biotech firm Biopharma to open Romania plant by late 2027

Ukrainian company Biopharma Plasma plans to start production at its new factory in Arad by the end of 2027.

Biopharma Plasma is the largest producer of plasma-derived medicines in Eastern Europe.

"We have already completed the building construction, and by September 1, we will finish connecting all engineering infrastructure. We have already ordered the filling line. By the end of June, we will sign contracts for the supply of reactor equipment and all other technological equipment. We will start operations in December 2027," said the company's president, Kostiantin Yefimenko, to Interfax-Ukraine.

The investment in the first phase of the Arad factory amounts to 85 million euros.

Biopharma is also building a plasma processing unit in Uzhhorod, in western Ukraine, with the total investments in the two factories estimated at around 436 million euros.

"Bila Tserkva is our flagship factory. We are not shifting our focus from it. We are developing everything simultaneously – Uzhhorod, Arad, and later we will build factories in Latin America," said Yefimenko.

Biopharma plans to launch the first stage of its pharmaceutical and immunobiological production factory in Uzhhorod in September. The factory will provide a complete process for blood plasma processing.

The company has already invested 67 million euros in construction. The total cost of the first stage is 75 million euros. The production volume of plasma-derived medicines in Uzhhorod will be twice that of the company's factory in Bila Tserkva (Kyiv region) and will reach up to 1.5 million liters per year.

Biopharma exports its products to dozens of countries and plans to expand its presence in Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America, while continuing to increase its production capacity.
