After nearly a week during which fuel prices remained unchanged, drivers receive good news: gasoline and diesel are getting cheaper in the Rompetrol network. The reduction comes after a period marked by strong volatility in the market, against the backdrop of the conflict in the Middle East and the fluctuations in international oil prices.
Rompetrol reduced the price of standard gasoline by 15 bani per liter on Saturday and that of standard diesel by 10 bani per liter. According to Profit.ro, the company thus becomes, at least temporarily, the network with the lowest fuel prices in Romania.
Following the price reduction, standard diesel reached 9.49 lei per liter, while standard gasoline reached 9.53 lei per liter. Thus, diesel is currently 4 bani cheaper than gasoline at Rompetrol stations, a situation rarely encountered in recent months.
Market data shows that the prices practiced by Rompetrol are currently lower than those of the main competitors. Diesel is approximately 4 bani per liter cheaper than at Petrom stations, and gasoline is about 9 bani per liter below the level practiced by the market leader.
The difference is all the more interesting considering that about a month and a half ago, diesel cost over one leu more per liter than gasoline. The evolution was influenced by changes in the international oil market as well as the commercial strategies of oil companies.
In recent weeks, Rompetrol has made several price changes. The company controlled by the Kazakh group KMG had significantly increased the price of diesel at the beginning of June, after previously raising the price of gasoline and reducing the price of diesel in several stages.
The fuel market is also influenced by government measures regarding the temporary capping of commercial margins, a measure that has limited the margins practiced by companies and has contributed to maintaining a tighter competition among major petrol station networks.
