Ukraine launched a massive drone attack on several regions of Russia on Monday night.

Russian officials stated on Tuesday that they had shot down at least 15 drones around Moscow.

Three residential blocks were hit, as well as an airport.

The strikes caused fires in buildings and led to the suspension of dozens of flights and the closure of the 4 airports in the Russian capital. Additionally, several dozen people were evacuated to temporary accommodation centers.

The regions of Bryansk, Tula, Kaluga, Belgorod, Kursk, Oryol, Voronezh, and Krasnodar Krai were also targeted.

The Mayor of Moscow, Sergey Sobyanin, claimed that more than 12 drones were shot down over the Moscow region en route to the capital.

The debris of three of the drones hit residential blocks, all around the Zhukovsky International Airport, about 30 km from the Kremlin.

Residents of Ramenskoe, a district near Moscow, reported that the wreckage of one of the drones hit a tall residential building, causing a fire. Subsequently, there were reports of two other buildings being hit by drone debris. Telegram channels SHOT and Baza from Russia, which are close to Russia's security services, posted videos of flames coming out of a multi-story residential building, stating that five apartments were destroyed in a drone attack in Ramenskoe.

Drone debris also reached Zhukovsky International Airport. The airport was damaged, and Sobyanin stated that firefighting operations are underway at the airport.

Over 30 international and domestic flights, originally scheduled for takeoff between 0:00 and 7:00, were delayed at Vnukovo Airport due to the attack.

Videos of alleged explosions heard over the Bryansk region were posted on social media by residents around 00:30. Governor Alexander Bogomaz claimed that 59 Ukrainian drones were shot down by the anti-aircraft defense overnight.

In the Tula region, two drones were shot down, and their debris fell on a fuel and power facility, but authorities stated that the "technological process" of the facility was not affected. Approximately 12 drones were shot down over the Kursk region, which is partially controlled by Ukraine.

In recent months, Ukrainian forces have intensified attacks against targets on Russian territory with the aim of damaging Russia's oil industry and military production facilities.
