Simona Halep sent a congratulatory message to David Popovici (19 years old), Olympic champion at the 2024 Paris Olympics, immediately after the fabulous race that brought gold for Popovici and Romania.
Like most people, Simona Halep watched David Popovici’s 200-meter freestyle final race on TV and, right after his triumph, she posted a message on Instastory, along with a photo of the swimmer.
"The best", wrote Simona Halep on Instagram.
After winning the gold medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in the 200-meter freestyle event, David Popovici was congratulated even by President Klaus Iohannis.
David Popovici made a fabulous recovery in the last 50 meters of the race and stopped the clock first, at 1:44.72. Matthew Richards, with 1:44.74, and Luke Hobson, with 1:44.79, completed the podium of the 200-meter freestyle race.
