The press from the United States of America is writing again about Simona Halep’s (32 years old) chances of participating in Roland Garros.
Champion at Roland Garros in 2018, Simona Halep has minimal chances of receiving a wildcard for the main draw at the French Open.
Americans claim it will be „the same story” as at the Rome tournament, where Simona did not receive an invitation to the main draw. Organizers preferred to offer wildcards to players from Italy.
„It will be the same story at Roland Garros, with the French federation favoring French athletes in terms of wildcards, to the detriment of those who have had success at Roland Garros in the past,” writes the website tennisuptodate.com.
Simona Halep had received a wildcard for the Madrid Open, but withdrew due to medical issues.
The only official match played by Simona Halep in 2024 took place on March 19, in the first round of the Miami Open, where she lost to Paula Badosa after receiving a wildcard.
