Former Spanish tennis great Rafael Nadal has predicted a 2-1 victory for Spain in the 2026 World Cup final, although he mentioned that if the Spanish team were to lose, he would prefer it to happen against Argentina, EFE reports.
‘Obviously, I will support Spain with all my might, but if we have to lose to someone, I would prefer it to be Argentina, because of all the Argentine friends I have and because of Scaloni,’ Nadal told COPE radio station.
The former legendary player specified that he personally knows Scaloni, describing him as 'a phenomenon' and emphasizing that his achievements with the Argentine national team represent 'an incredible performance'.
In Nadal's opinion, the Spanish national team 'has continued to progress and is reaching its best possible moment. We have played better than them so far and I am confident that we will win'.
'I am betting on a 2-1 victory for us. That's how I see things. Come on, Spain!' he emphasized.
Spain and Argentina will compete in the final at New Jersey Stadium - East Rutherford, starting at 10:00 PM.
