Gică Hagi (61 years old) named the football player who played in the final of the 2026 World Cup and whom he would bring to play for Romania.
The coach pointed out Pedri, the midfielder from Barcelona.
Asked by Florin Răducioiu, in the studio before the Spain - Argentina 1-0 final of the World Cup, which player he would like in the Romanian national team from the two teams that faced each other in the final of the tournament, "The King" replied shortly:
"Pedri," said Gică Hagi, on Antena 1. He did not provide details about the choice made.
Most likely, however, "The King" is attracted by Pedri's vision, by the way he dictates the rhythm of the game when he is in form, and by the fact that the team he is part of can easily control the midfield.
Pedri was not a starter in the Spanish national team in the final of the 2026 World Cup, but he entered the game during the match.
Spain won 1-0 against Argentina, after a goal scored by Ferran Torres in extra time, and became world champion for the second time in history.
