The Romanian Football Federation announced on Wednesday that, following the Technical Commission meeting, the number 1 candidate has been chosen to replace Edi Iordănescu (46 years old) as the head coach of the Romanian national team.

Mihai Stoichiță, the technical director of the Technical Commission of the FRF, revealed that during the meeting, Gică Hagi (59 years old) was proposed as the primary replacement for Edi Iordănescu.

He specified that negotiations will begin to see if Gică Hagi accepts the position of head coach or not. Additionally, Stoichiță announced that there are other names on the FRF list in case negotiations with "The King" do not lead to a positive outcome.

”The procedures are the same as before. Gică Hagi is number 1. There are other coaches, former national team coaches, young, and experienced, but I cannot disclose names. This is how discussions will start, with the first procedure.

There will be the same steps as before Edi came. If we encounter problems, we will see,” said Mihai Stoichiță, the head of the Technical Commission at the FRF, in a press conference, as quoted by Digi Sport.
