Fabio Capello found the explanations for Inter’s premature elimination from the Champions League, Cristi Chivu’s team.
The „Nerazzurri” surprisingly exited the Champions League in the round of 16, knocked out by the Norwegians from Bodo/Glimt (2-5 on aggregate).
After the match, Capello pointed out to Chivu the reasons that led to the Italian team's elimination from the "competition of the stars."
"In Italy, there is no pressure. Here, if every time someone nudges you slightly, you throw yourself on the grass... That is not the competitive spirit and intensity you need in the Champions League.
I saw an Inter too slow in all actions, without rhythm. They tried to play through the center and failed, but what surprised me the most is that no one managed to dribble past anyone. No individual duels, no dribbling, and very late substitutions.
In the first half, Chivu's boys played more on the right, but without posing a threat. I thought Dimarco (note: left-back) could be the one to make a difference, but I never saw the game move to his side. And that's what punished Inter.
Inter did not play with the necessary pace to beat a team like Bodo. Things changed when Sucic came on, but it was already too late," said Fabio Capello, according to the Italian press.
