Passengers Can Access Free Drinking Water at Bucharest’s Airports

Tap water supplied at Henri Coandă Airport is drinkable starting Monday and can be used by passengers, announced the National Company Bucharest Airports (CNAB).

The water will be offered for free at special stations located in all areas of the terminals.

"The water supplied at the airport was drinkable until 2012 when the law regarding the quality parameters of drinking water was changed.

Meanwhile, air traffic has doubled, and the issue of the availability of drinking water at the airport has become pressing. We have been insisting on solving this situation ever since I took over as the general director of CNAB almost five months ago.

In this short period, we have swiftly managed to carry out all the necessary technical interventions so that starting today, February 2, the tap water at Henri Coandă Airport is drinkable and microbiologically pure," stated the general director of the National Company Bucharest Airports, Bogdan Mîndrescu, as quoted in a company statement.

The airport's drinking water supply is provided through its own deep wells and is distributed to passengers in the terminals through a network of pipes approximately 23 km long.

The National Company Bucharest Airports has already initiated the process of installing 14 drinking water stations connected to the airport's network. These will have both fountains and bottle filling devices.

The water stations will be available in both public areas and restricted access areas, including at the boarding gates in the Departures area or at the baggage claim belts in the Arrivals area. Therefore, airport passengers will have access to free drinking water.

The first water station is set to be installed in the Departures terminal during the day on Monday.

At Băneasa Airport, two more drinking water stations will be installed for passengers.

"We must always meet the needs and requests of passengers. This has been one of my priorities, and I believe Henri Coandă Airport must undergo a radical change and reach international standards of comfort and functionality," stated Bogdan Mîndrescu.
