PSD President Sorin Grindeanu launched an attack on Environment Minister Diana Buzoianu on Tuesday evening, accusing her of focusing on inspections and investigations instead of making public policies. The social-democratic leader also claims that the works on a section of the Sibiu–Pitești highway are affected by the delay in revising the environmental agreement.
In an intervention on România TV, Grindeanu criticized the way USR ministers carry out their duties, referring to checks on expenses at the National Meteorology Administration (ANM).
"I saw how they boast. Well, I saw how they act like police, searching for bras at ANM. If they broke the law, they should pay. In the Environment Ministry or wherever these USR gentlemen went, they have the impression that, the moment they take on a ministerial position, they are some kind of detectives. They must find something," Grindeanu stated.
The PSD leader argued that ministers should focus on managing the domains they are responsible for. "Very well, but you should know that there is an internal control body in each ministry. You need to do something else, to manage that domain, to make public policies in that domain, to try to bring prosperity to Romanians," he continued.
Referring directly to Diana Buzoianu, Grindeanu stated that she "plays the policewoman in the Ministry of Environment, searching for bras and lingerie, and so on."
Accusations regarding the delay of works on the Sibiu–Pitești route
Grindeanu, who was Minister of Transport, claimed that the delay in revising the environmental agreement is affecting the works on the Boița–Cornetu section of the Sibiu–Pitești highway.
According to him, the necessary document for the continuation of the works has been awaiting signature since August 14, which is why the constructor may only work on 45% of the section. "I know that since August 14, the request for revising the environmental agreement has been submitted and remains unsigned, and work is being done on 45% of the section, which is not okay," stated the PSD leader.
