After today’s resignation of the PSD ministers, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced who will take over the vacant portfolios.
- Ministry of Labor – Dragoș Pîslaru, Minister of European Projects (PNL)
- Ministry of Health – Cseke Attila, Minister of Development (UDMR)
- Ministry of Agriculture – Tanczos Barna, Deputy Prime Minister (UDMR)
- Ministry of Justice – Cătălin Predoiu (PNL)
- Ministry of Energy – Ilie Bolojan
- Ministry of Transport – Radu Miruță (USR)
Vice Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu will take over the duties of Vice Prime Minister Marian Neacșu.
In a brief statement from Victoria Palace, the Prime Minister thanked the social-democrat ministers for their collaboration "through good and bad" during the ten months of governance.
Bolojan justified his decision to take over the Ministry of Energy because the field is one of our important issues, and the aspects related to energy are not only the responsibility of this ministry but also of companies under the coordination of the General Secretariat of the Government, the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE), which is an independent authority that the Government must engage with.
The Prime Minister believes that this move will accelerate progress in this field for increasing production, for network optimization, and for taking measures to make energy in Romania cheaper.
It is worth noting that the state secretaries from the PSD remain in the Government, and the Secretary General of the Government, Radu Oprea, will also submit his resignation once the resignations of the PSD ministers are published in the Official Gazette. The prefects and sub-prefects from the PSD theoretically remain in office until the motion of censure.
For the resignations to take effect and for the interim ministers to assume the new portfolios, the decrees must be signed by President Nicușor Dan, who is in Nicosia today and tomorrow for the European Council. The head of state can sign immediately or can postpone for 15 days (the constitutional deadline). If he chooses to postpone, it may leave room for a possible new negotiation.
Spotmedia presented the statements of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan:
- We have taken note of the resignations of the ministers supported by the Social Democratic Party. I must thank them for the collaboration we have had in these ten months, because all the achievements are a team result, and each minister, each state secretary, each colleague from the ministries has contributed to them.
- Considering that the Government must work without interruptions, due to the issues we face - absorption of funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, normal implementation of investments, the SAFE program, and all other issues - I had a meeting with the deputy prime ministers which we concluded a few minutes ago.
- After this meeting, we will send the proposals for ministers to the President. The proposals aim for the nominees to have experience so they can immediately take over the activity, to be without interruptions, and for all ongoing projects to continue smoothly.
- By Monday, we have asked the new ministers to contact the resigning ministers so that starting from Monday, they can resume work to ensure smooth operations. On Monday, we will have a working meeting to identify issues and priorities for working without interruptions.
The ministries will be taken over by the following ministers:
- At the Ministry of Labor – Dragoș Pîslaru, Minister of European Projects (PNL)
- At the Ministry of Health – Cseke Attila, Minister of Development (UDMR)
- At the Ministry of Agriculture – Tanczos Barna, Deputy Prime Minister (UDMR)
- At the Ministry of Justice – Cătălin Predoiu (PNL)
- At the Ministry of Energy – Ilie Bolojan
- At the Ministry of Transport: Radu Miruță (USR)
- The duties of Mr. Marian Neacșu will be taken over by Mrs. Oana Gheorghiu. She will also manage all companies that, currently being under different authorities, were not coordinated from a single place. Audit of mandate contracts is necessary, as well as imposing conditions that generate performance.
- In a few hours, we will send both the resignations and the replacement proposals to the presidency and expect these decisions to be published in the Official Gazette in the coming days, allowing the new ministers to effectively assume the responsibilities of the ministries they have been proposed for.
The social-democrat ministers and Vice Prime Minister Marian Neacșu resigned today. However, the state secretaries appointed by the PSD in the Government did not resign and will leave "along with the motion of censure." The motion will be submitted "when the party decides," as Neacșu stated.
Following the resignation of the social-democrat ministers, the Government led by Ilie Bolojan changes its political composition, effectively marking the exit of the PSD from the governing coalition.
This interim period lasts for 45 days. During this time, a motion of censure against the Government can be submitted in Parliament. AUR has announced that it will vote for any motion against the current Government.
