NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte, spoke about the increasing Russian losses in the war and delivered a public message to young Russians.
„The course of the war has changed, and the Russian involvement has become increasingly dangerous,” Rutte stated on Wednesday at a press conference in Kyiv, urging young Russians to consider these aspects.
"While Ukraine continues to stand firm, innovate, and achieve victories on the battlefield, Russia is becoming more desperate," said the NATO chief, as reported by Ukrainska Pravda.
"Russia's losses are substantial, over 30,000 per month. This means that it loses more people in a month than the Soviet Union lost in 10 years in the 1980s in Afghanistan. Absolutely astonishing figures," Mark Rutte added.
Rutte stated that he will use his speech to directly address "young Russians and their families," emphasizing that Russian propaganda misleads them.
"Men like you who join the fight will not be prepared. The equipment they will provide you is below standard. There is a very high chance you will die or be injured while you are there. And there are high chances that if you are injured, you will be left to suffer in the mud and die. So when we talk about tens of thousands of Russian casualties, it is not something abstract. It will likely be you," the NATO chief said.
Mark Rutte mentioned discussing how Ukraine manages to change the course of the war on the front. "I believe Ukraine is achieving greater success, both on the front line and in ensuring that it can neutralize some of the key Russian capabilities needed to continue the war," he stated.
However, the NATO chief noted that the war shows no signs of stopping. Shortly after the press conference, an air raid siren sounded in the capital of Ukraine, as reported by AFP journalists, according to Agerpres.
