Work on the Moldova Highway is progressing rapidly, and if the current pace is maintained, it will be possible to drive on the highway from Bucharest to Pașcani, covering 390 kilometers, by 2026, according to the General Director of the National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR), Cristian Pistol.
The physical progress of the works on the Domneşti Târg – Răcăciuni section of the Focșani – Bacău Highway has exceeded 80%, stated Cristian Pistol.
By the end of this year, traffic on section 2 will be able to open at least up to Adjud (17 kilometers out of nearly 39 kilometers).
The value of this contract, funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), is 2.48 billion lei (excluding VAT).
UMB, massive mobilization
On the 38.78 kilometers of this section (which is part of the Moldova Highway), where the Romanian contractor (UMB Spedition) is mobilized with approximately 1,500 workers and 422 pieces of equipment, the following works are taking place: Adjud road junction arrangement (physical progress is 65%), Răcăciuni road junction arrangement (physical progress is 85%), earthworks, laying of asphalt mixtures and wearing course, installation of metal guardrails, road markings, installation of sound-absorbing panels.
"Currently, the Romanian constructor is working on all 3 sections of the Focșani - Bacău highway section (95.9 kilometers) with approximately 4,000 workers. If the current pace of work is maintained, next year (2026) there will be traffic on the highway from Bucharest to Pașcani, covering a distance of 390 kilometers (A3 - A7)," he added.
