An 18-year-old young woman from Corabia, Olt County, is under criminal investigation after allegedly creating social media accounts from which she sent herself threatening messages, which she later presented as evidence in a complaint filed with the police against a teacher accused of harassment.
According to the Olt County Police Inspectorate (IPJ), the young woman reported to the police in October 2025, claiming she was being harassed online. She identified an educational staff member as a possible sender of the messages.
Following the complaint, the police opened a criminal case for the offense of harassment.
During the investigation, the young woman submitted several messages and screenshots that allegedly represented threats received online. Based on these pieces of evidence, the investigators ordered the extension of the criminal investigation for the offenses of threats and influencing statements, according to IPJ Olt.
Phone seized by police for checks
Subsequently, the investigators ordered the seizure of the young woman's mobile phone for technical checks.
"On February 19, 2026, during the procedural-criminal activities carried out at the police headquarters, the seizure of her mobile phone was ordered by ordinance for the purpose of conducting specialized technical checks, strictly respecting the legal framework. The person was informed of her rights and the procedural steps she could follow," representatives of IPJ Olt stated.
However, the young woman called 112 and complained that her phone had been unjustly retained by a policeman.
The complaint was reviewed by a prosecutor, who dismissed it, finding that the police activities were conducted in accordance with the law.
Sending threatening messages to herself
After examining the evidence, the police determined that the young woman had created and used social media accounts to send herself threatening messages, which she later submitted as evidence in the criminal case.
"Following the investigations and the administration of evidence, it was found that the person in question had created and used social media accounts through which she sent herself threatening messages, which she later submitted as evidence in the criminal case," stated the police.
Admitted her deed
On March 2, 2026, the police ordered the initiation of criminal proceedings against the 18-year-old young woman for misleading the judicial authorities.
"During the hearing, the young woman admitted to committing the deed, stating that the complaint and evidence submitted did not correspond to reality," further stated representatives of IPJ Olt.
