The Hidro Prahova company announced on Saturday evening that it is completely stopping the water supply in Câmpina and partially in the Poiana Câmpina commune, just a day after Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan had announced the gradual resumption of supply. The interruption was expected to last approximately 10 hours.
According to the operator, the measure was determined by the appearance of breakdowns once the water was reintroduced into the system. Hidro Prahova representatives decided to interrupt after 10:00 PM, when consumption is lower.
"Localized breakdowns have been identified"
In a statement sent on Saturday evening, Hidro Prahova explains that after filling the pipes, "localized breakdowns have been identified," which require urgent interventions to stabilize the network.
"Hidro Prahova S.A. will temporarily interrupt the water supply starting at 10:00 PM, for an estimated period of approximately 10 hours," the operator specifies. The works aim at remedying the breakdowns that occurred after the resumption of supply, emergency valve replacement, and network flushing, in accordance with the recommendations of the Public Health Directorate Prahova.
The company emphasizes that it is currently delivering water from the Voila Treatment Plant, "in accordance with the address sent by the Prahova Public Health Directorate." In all other localities in the county, water will continue to be delivered normally, but with the prohibition of using it for human consumption.
What Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced on Friday
The water supply interruption comes a day after Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced on Friday, at the Victoria Palace, the gradual resumption of water supply in Prahova, but with the warning that it cannot be considered potable before 72 hours have passed.
Bolojan explained that health and environmental authorities were mandated to support the rapid reconnection of households, but also to warn people that the water is still not potable.
