Passengers will be able to carry liquids in individual containers of up to two liters in the airplane cabin, without the previous limit of 100 milliliters, starting Friday, September 5, at Sibiu International Airport (AIS).
The first flight to benefit from the new rule is the Sibiu – Vienna flight operated by Wizz Air, scheduled for Friday, September 5, at 06:00, according to a press release quoted by Agerpres.
The measure is possible due to the installation and full operation of the five EDSCB standard C3 security control devices implemented within the airport infrastructure modernization project.
The General Director of AIS, Marius Ioan Gîrdea, emphasized that the new equipment ensures "faster, safer, and more comfortable travel conditions, aligned with the highest European security standards."
"Sibiu International Airport had the courage to be among the pioneers in introducing this technology in Europe. With the lifting of restrictions, our passengers once again enjoy the benefits of cutting-edge technology. It is proof that when we invest with confidence and vision, the community only stands to gain," stated the President of Sibiu County Council (CJ), Daniela Cîmpean.
The Sibiu airport is the second in Romania to implement this measure.
Avram Iancu International Airport in Cluj-Napoca has eliminated, starting Wednesday, September 3, the restrictions limiting liquid, aerosols, and gels containers in carry-on baggage to 100 ml.
