Nicușor Dan, reply to PSD: You can't make change without changing anything!

President Nicușor Dan believes that Romania urgently needs a government supported by a parliamentary majority and responded to PSD’s reluctance to join the government.

The President made some statements in the halls of Parliament, where he was surrounded by journalists, after taking the oath and delivering a speech from the official podium.

Regarding the conditions set by PSD, Nicușor Dan said that.

"In the face of national interest, a party cannot say NO. Tax reforms are inevitable, it is mandatory for us to make them. All these are technical discussions, you can't change without changing anything. We have a short-term issue, let's solve the short-term issue."

"Tax reforms are inevitable," the President stated. "The urgency is to have a government with a parliamentary majority that will undertake some tax reform measures," added Nicușor Dan.

The President believes that stability and predictability are essential for the Romanian economy.

In addition, Romanians will exert the necessary pressure on political parties to overcome current blockages.

The President expressed willingness to sit at the discussion table, but without touching essential programs.

He argued that the lack of a government with a parliamentary majority creates uncertainty for investors, who do not know what will happen if the government changes in six months.

The President explained that a stable government will allow Romania to borrow at a lower cost and provide predictability on fiscal policy for the period 2025-2026.

Regarding the change in the Government's composition, Nicușor Dan said: "It would be good for the people Romanians see not to be exactly those they rejected in the vote."

After solving the deficit issue, the country will need specialists to define sectoral strategies.

On Monday, the interim president of PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, stated that the social democrats will participate in discussions to form a government with an "open mandate," without demanding anything at this moment.

However, he emphasized that PSD will not accept a decrease in investments in Romania or a reduction in citizens' incomes, regardless of future political discussions.

These are "red lines of common sense" that PSD will never cross. He specified that any decrease in investments in infrastructure or other areas is unacceptable for the party.
