What kind of president do Romanians want - INSCOP

Over 67% of Romanians would prefer the future president of the country to be more of a pro-Western candidate, according to an INSCOP opinion poll conducted between October 11-18.

Moreover, over 70% of the interviewees declare that they would rather prefer a candidate with experience, and 44.5% of the survey participants would prefer the future president to be someone independent of parties, according to Inscop Research.

According to the survey data, 67.5% of Romanians would prefer the future president to be more of a pro-Western candidate, while 17.1% would rather prefer an anti-Western candidate. 3.9% say this aspect does not matter, and 11.5% do not know or do not respond.

They would rather prefer a pro-Western candidate, especially: voters of Mircea Geoană and Elena Lasconi, USR voters, individuals under 30, people with higher education, residents of Bucharest or large urban areas.

They would rather prefer an anti-Western candidate, especially: voters of George Simion, AUR voters, those with primary education, and TikTok users.

Moreover, 70.6% of the interviewees declare that they would rather prefer someone with experience, while 24.5% say they would prefer someone younger. 3.7% say this aspect does not matter, and 1.2% do not know or do not respond.

Voters of Marcel Ciolacu and Mircea Geoană, PNL and PSD voters, individuals over 45 years old declare in a higher proportion than the average that they would rather prefer someone with experience.

44.5% of the survey participants would prefer the future president of Romania to be someone independent of parties. 41.9% would rather prefer a representative of a political party for the top position in the state. 7.1% say this aspect does not matter, and 6.5% do not know or do not respond.

The opinion poll was conducted at the request of the 'Libertatea' newspaper, using the CATI method, with a sample size of 1,106 persons, representative of significant socio-demographic categories (gender, age, occupation) for the non-institutionalized population of Romania, aged 18 and over.

The maximum permissible data error is plus/minus 2.95%, with a confidence level of 95%.
