The President of the Permanent Electoral Authority, Toni Greblă, announced on Thursday that there will be a record number of polling stations abroad for the presidential elections, over 950.

Toni Greblă stated in a press conference that a preliminary discussion with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed that for the presidential elections, „there will be at least as many polling stations as there were for the European Parliament elections.”

"In a preliminary discussion with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with whom we have a very good collaboration, it was established that at least as many polling stations as there were for the European Parliament elections, over 950, will be organized for the election of the President of Romania.

"And, I repeat, it is a record number of polling stations that Romania opens abroad. No other country in the world opens over 900 polling stations abroad," said Toni Greblă.

The President of the AEP also mentioned that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will communicate to the Permanent Electoral Authority, by the beginning of November, the number of polling stations they plan to open abroad.

How many polling stations will there be in the country

Additionally, Toni Greblă announced that over 19,000 polling stations will be set up in the country for the presidential election, their number and the streets assigned to them will be published on the AEP website in the first decade of November.

Toni Greblă explained how each voter can find out which polling station they are assigned to: "Every voter who wants to check where they are assigned a polling station can do so by entering their ID number on the AEP website, and it will automatically indicate the street and number of the polling station. There is also a route and location of the polling station."

Voters will be able to follow the indicated route, but will also receive an address of the polling station.

The first round of the presidential elections will take place on November 24, and the second round on December 8.

The candidacies of 14 contenders for the position of President of Romania have been validated. The Central Electoral Bureau recently published the ballot template.
