The Scottish press intervenes in the case of Ianis Hagi

The Scottish press has intervened in the case of Ianis Hagi after his presence in the national team sparked controversy.

Several voices criticized Ianis Hagi’s call-up to the national team and even invoked the fact that he is Gica Hagi’s son.

In response, journalists from Ibrox News explained why Ianis Hagi cannot be accused of nepotism.

"Although it is understood that Hagi's father, Gheorghe, is one of Romania's most iconic footballers, it is a bold statement to directly label nepotism. However, Hagi played in all four matches at Euro 2024, starting in two of them, after a modest loan spell at Alaves.

Now, after Hagi and Rangers' representatives seem to have overcome the impasse related to the outrageous clause in the contract, it will be interesting to see how often he will be used in the team. It is still not clear whether Clement appreciates him or not. The red card received against St Johnstone was like taking one step forward and two steps back, but the hope is that this obviously talented player can still make a solid impact this season," wrote Ibrox News.

Ianis Hagi has only played one match for Rangers this season, but was sent off. He will return to the field at the end of October.
