Ianis Hagi, the 26-year-old Romanian midfielder for Glasgow Rangers, could soon find himself, perhaps surprisingly, without a head coach on the sidelines.
The Scottish press produced an extensive piece on this topic on Sunday, following Rangers’ victory on Saturday evening in the Scottish Premiership, with a 1-0 score against Dundee FC.
It seems that Belgian coach Philippe Clement may have until next month to get the team back on track, otherwise he will be dismissed in January. The loss in the League Cup final, recent poor results overall, have increasingly led the Rangers fans to question him.
The Belgian coach is under significant pressure, and a sequence of three matches will be crucial for him, culminating with the Old Firm derby against Celtic at the beginning of 2025:
"Motherwell's captain, Paul McGinn, whose team will face Clement's students on December 29, explained that if the team does not secure maximum points in the next three matches, including the match against his own club, the pressure will once again be on the Belgian, who has had a break in the last month.
Following the disappointment in the Scottish League Cup final last Sunday, Clement's team will face Dundee this weekend, followed by St Mirren and Motherwell before returning to the Old Firm clash against Celtic at Ibrox at the start of 2025," noted Ibroxnews.
Ianis Hagi played 84 minutes in the 1-0 victory against Dundee, receiving a rating of 8 from the press, and was also highly praised by Clement: "In a new encouraging role, he troubled Dundee's defense and had impressive moments showcasing his skills," noted the Scots.
