The men's final in Miami has been set

Italian Jannik Sinner and Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov have qualified for the final of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Miami (United States), with total prize money of 8,995,555 dollars.

Sinner (22 years old), ranked world number 3, defeated Russian Daniil Medvedev, the title holder, in the semifinals with a clear 6-1, 6-2 victory in just 69 minutes of play.

The Italian continues to impress this season, having won the Australian Open in January, where he also defeated Medvedev in the final, after eliminating Serbian Novak Djokovic, the ATP ranking leader, in the semifinals.

Jannik Sinner has suffered only one defeat in 22 matches played in 2024, against Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, who was eliminated in the quarterfinals in Miami.

If he wins the Sunday final, the Italian player will rise to second place in the world rankings, his best position in his career, surpassing Alcaraz.

Grigor Dimitrov also reached the final in Florida after defeating German Alexander Zverev in three sets, 6-4, 6-7 (4/7), 6-4, the reigning Olympic champion.

At 32 years old, the Bulgarian hopes to clinch his second Masters 1000 title on Sunday, following his victory in Cincinnati (Ohio) in 2017.

Dimitrov, aggressive and precise at the net, had lost their previous seven matches against Zverev. His only win against the German dates back to 2014, in their first encounter when Zverev was only 14 years old.

Jannik Sinner has defeated Grigor Dimitrov twice in the course of 2023, after losing to the Bulgarian in their first encounter in 2020.
