The Italian press has been convinced by Radu Drăgușin (24 years old), the central defender loaned by Fiorentina from Tottenham.
Gazzetta dello Sport wrote on Tuesday about how Drăgușin performed in the Tuscan team’s training sessions.
The Italians noticed that Drăgușin is formidable in aerial duels, but also that he immediately secured a place among the starters under the new coach, Fabio Grosso.
"Fabio Paratici, who knows him well from his time at Juventus Next Gen until he arrived at Tottenham, does not take any risks, let alone a bet, but vision and courage:
Because the Viola's sporting director relied on the memory of Radu Drăgușin as he was, as outlined until January 2025, before the cruciate ligament rupture that forced him to miss an entire year.
Before his knee injury, especially during his time at Genoa, Drăgușin had proven to be dominant. In early 2024, he moved to Spurs, coming to England with a sensational statistic: 53 aerial duels won in the last six months at Genoa. No one in Serie A had performed better!
A formidable player in aerial challenges, worthy of the NBA, Drăgușin is looking to rediscover his benchmarks, including the confidence from that period. In Florence, he arrived in peak form and with an aerobic capacity similar to the period before his transfer to Tottenham.
In just a month, the player born in 2002 has become a leader, so much so that anyone watching him in training or playing in friendlies would believe the Romanian to be a veteran of the Viola. Especially considering how he commands the backline and instructs his teammates, especially Viery, the defender who came with him," the source notes.
Fiorentina is obliged to buy Radu Drăgușin from Tottenham next summer on the condition that the Romanian defender plays a certain number of matches at the "Artemio Franchi" stadium.
