Simona Halep makes a last-minute decision regarding her career and changes her coach once again, this time to an emblematic figure, a tennis person who has been close to her in major successes in her life.
At 32 years old, Halep, former WTA world No. 1, is still recovering from the long knee injury that has prevented her from competing in recent months. Now, the former champion of Roland Garros and Wimbledon is intensively preparing for her comeback on the court.
After returning to tennis following her suspension, post-TAS decision, Halep was briefly coached by the Spaniard Carlos Martinez. After ending the collaboration with the Spaniard, Simona Halep returned to work with Daniel Dobre, the man with whom she won Wimbledon in 2019, as announced by ProTV and Sport.ro.
Daniel Dobre was behind the great success at the All England Club, when in the final Halep defeated the legendary Serena Williams with a score of 6-2, 6-2.
Moreover, this information was later confirmed by Halep herself, present at the inauguration of the new ice rink in Berceni, at the Romanian Ice Hockey Super Cup, among names like Ion Țiriac, Mihai Covaliu, and Elisabeta Lipă: "He is actually with me tonight, Daniel Dobre will be my coach, he is and has always been by my side, and I am very happy because he is an exceptional person," said Halep.
Simona Halep played her last official match in May, when she retired in the second set of the match against McCartney Kessler (24 years old) at the Trophee Clarins, with a score of 7-5, 2-3.
